According to research carried out in a university in Southhampton, England, a group of people who played video games combined with a fitness program found that “Call of Duty 4” was the best at helping to lose an average of 9 lbs in a month with Xbox 360 being the best game consolte to help reduce body fat by 1.6% per month. Not far behind was PlayStation 3 at 1.5 percent and Wii/GameCube helping to shed 1.1 percent body fat. “Burnout Paradise” helped to lose 7 lbs and “The Simpsons Game” – 6 lbs.
The research was conducted by Gamercize, an innovative British company focusing on electronic fitness accessories to “encourage fitness through motivation and enjoyment, by innovation in technology.” From July 2007, a random sample of 250 men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 were analyzed using data from the companies GZ Personal Trainer Program. Qualified participants actively participated in gaming combined with their daily Gamercize and other fitness activities such as jogging and sports.
The university wanted to see how effective active gaming products are in producing tangible health benefits. In addition they wanted to understand why the “theoretical calorie burn” of Gamercize products in particular are the highest in the active gaming market and how much of this would be actually realized.
According to Gamercize founder and CEO, Richard Coshott, the winning combination of Gamercize and the video games on the market is their compatibility. “This provides appeal to the widest possible audience, but more importantly means fitness isn’t left on the shelf when the latest game release hits the stores. It is this adaptability that has proven to be a big hit not just in homes but in schools and commercial gyms too.”
If you hate exercising then you’ll agree with one of the CEO’s core beliefs when designing Gamercize. “Making the exercise secondary to the game experience is the other key aspect. We don’t control the game with exercise; we let the player control the game the way the designers intended. Using the games full potential makes it easier to forget the effort of using the stepper or cycle while playing.”
It is a program which provides “easy to understand weight loss graphs, body fat percentage analysis, BMI calculation and waist hip ratio health indicators.”
Army of Two: The 40th Day is based in Shanghai. Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem begin the game a few years after the story of the original game ends as self-employed private military contractors who run, with the aid of Alice Murray, their own private company called Trans World Operations (TWO). They are engaged in a routine mission in Shanghai when things go very bad. A group of PMCs work together to attack the city, causing mayhem, destruction and threatening Rios and Salem’s survival. As executive producer Reid Schneider explains, “It’s really more of a survival story, and about what happens to you when you’re there.” Rios and Salem have to work through this assault and try to get out of Shanghai alive.
The game play is amazing as far as Co-Op goes, teamwork is the main and only essential to get through this game. You can choose to be either salem or rios if you play one player. As you control one player you are able to give commands to your partner such as: Aggro, Keep Position, And Advance. Now aggro is a quality in this game that really isn’t seen in other games, but its the reason why this games stands out and Aggro is the centerpiece of this Army of Two. Aggro is merely a different word for attention. If you were to be salem and enemies is proceeding to your location steadily shooting at you and the only way you would be free from the gunfire is to die than that would mean you have a lot of aggro.
There would be no attention on your partner, therefore he would be able to kill them from the back because they are not paying attention to your partner. It happens to be a major quality of the game along with the gun upgrades, the new weapons you can receive and you can also change the weapons color, but depending the color depends on how quickly and drastically you receive aggro. Many people enjoy call of duty online but i have to say the online on army of two is one of a kind. Online there can be up to 8 groups of 2. so that would be 6 enemies in a small map and is sort of a good thing for people who just want to kill, kill, kill, and not search for 30 minutes to kill 1 person.
Also whenever you are wounded your partner can revive and can also restock your inventory just in case you run low… Now the EA connection server is not one of the best for it lags a lot and most hosts loses their connection. Other than that i would have to say that it has to be one of the most enjoyable games with such replay value in the whole video game community.
